Bastides
A land of “Bastides”… Labastide and Montfaucon retain a distinct imprint from their foundation in the early 13th C. These two “bastides” (mediaeval new towns) have kept their original layout, characteristic of such places : straight streets, crossing at right angles, with a main market place on and around which the economic and social life of the town was concentrated.
